If I had to pick one favourite part of what I love about being a dietitian, it would be translating nutrition science into simple messages for every day people to be able to make effective dietary changes to positively impact their health. Working with a brand like @activiaaustralia makes my job super easy as everything about the brand is underpinned by quality probiotic nutrition science. So today, chatting to @colessupermarkets head office stuff about Activia probiotics for good gut health was super fun. And of course everyone loved the free Activia yoghurt pot they got to take away! 😀

Today is the Jewish festival of Purim - a day where the kids dress up and play games all day at school, we read the book of Queen Esther and how she saved the Jews from being exterminated in Persia. And like all Jewish festivals, food plays a central role! We eat these little triangle biscuits called hamentashen, which have many meanings. My favourite meaning is their representation of the triumph of good over evil. The world can sometimes seem filled with too much evil on all sides, and I like to believe that good will always prevail…and so will delicious yummy jam-filled triangle biscuits !

Today our marketing team learned the art of making fresh home made pasta with chef Mauro from @bloompottspoint . Mauro took us through the intricate processes of kneading the dough and making delicate orichette and other shapes that he learned from his grandmother in Italy. We then enjoyed a beautiful meal together eating all the varieties of pasta we made. Magnifico!

One of the ways I love extending the life of summer berries is simmering slightly-too-soft-to-eat berries on the stove with whatever added flavour I feel like. It could be balsamic glaze, a dash of sumac, scraped vanilla bean pod or some star anise and cloves. This keeps in the fridge for ages and is perfectly combined with yoghurt or ice cream.

There are food markets and then there is Machane Yehuda market - a very large market within the bustling heart of Jerusalem. The variety on offer is mind boggling and the smells, sights and doubds are an absolute delightful sensory overload. #machaneyehudamarket

When travelling around the world, the best way to experience local cuisine is through recommendations from locals. Today, a shop keeper told us about this ‘hole in the wall’ tiny restaurant where locals queue for hours for the smoky bbq-filled shawarmas that are some of the best in tel Aviv and it did not disappoint. Jasminos serves up a simple daily menu from the charcoal bbq and the pita is some of the best I have ever eaten in my life.

10 business lessons from an unforgettable year
2020 - the year that no-one will ever forget, even though most would like to. Some birthdays can be like that too, bringing back not-so-good memories of the previous year. But even with the shitty parts of a year, which almost everyone on the planet [...]
